Christ
said, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day;
the night is coming when no one can work.” (John 9:4)
Obviously, when spiritual darkness reaches critical mass, no one can
do the works of God that are done in normal times. One only has to
consider the apostasies of Israel in the Scriptures to know this is
true. The fact is that the Scriptures predict such a time of great
darkness before the Second Coming of Christ. There will not be many
souls saved, not many true healings and other valid manifestations of
God's power. Instead, there will be doldrums and many false prophets
and teachers performing lying signs and wonders. In other words, it
will not be business as usual. Professing Christians that are used
to getting a spiritual high from these signs to prop up their sagging
faith will flock to the false ones. A great number will flow into
the cults and false religions. It will be a time of great deception
and delusion. Other ones will fight through various trials while
struggling to maintain a high level of faith.
I believe that the time of great
darkness has arrived. There have been many predictions and
pronouncements in the past concerning that period. However, it was
not possible in times past to have a complete fulfillment of the
prophecies about globalism, one-world government, one-world religion,
and etcetera. It is now possible for every Biblical prophecy that
precedes the Second Coming of Christ to be fulfilled and most of them
have been fulfilled. Whether one believes that a secret rapture will
occur before the Antichrist is revealed, or that Christians will have
to endure most of the seven-year tribulation, obviously every true
Christian will need to be prepared for very difficult times. If a
secret rapture occurs, it will not be during a time of peace and
safety. The atmosphere that ushers in the Antichrist will be
volatile for true Christians. American Christians for the most part
do not believe this fact. The are deceived by a spirit of elitism,
ignoring the fact that in most of the world there is very harsh
persecution of Christians in varying degrees. Instead of being the
norm, we are the exception. But that is about to change.
The question that each professing
Christian must ask him or her self is, “Can I stand for Christ when
it will cost me everything to not to deny Him?” Of course, the
majority of professing Christians spoof the idea that such a
situation will occur in their lifetime. Many have been willfully
ignoring the encroaching darkness. Their hearts are filled with the
offerings of the world system. The majority attend churches where
they seldom hear anything that challenges them to mature spiritually.
In most cases, even their concept of Christianity is not scriptural.
Instead of fully surrendering to God, they simply added Him to their
life, such as it is. If true Christianity were explained to them,
they would reject it as heresy or renounce their profession of faith
in Christ. The sad truth is that they will also reject anyone that
attempts to warn them.
This is the most tragic consequence of
being a nominal Christian in the last days. When the darkness become
so great that no one can work, the warning cries will fall on many
deaf ears. When Christ came the first time the religious society
ignored John's warning and proclamation of His coming. The religious
leaders did not recognize Him. Even though it was obvious that He
was sent by God, they clung to their delusion and rejected every word
of truth and warning. To silence God's Son, they tortured and
murdered Him.
History has come full cycle. We are in
another period of great darkness, the one prophesied to occur before
the Second Coming of Christ. This world is already a very dangerous
place for true Christians, and America is getting ready to join the
rest of the world in accepting that danger. Accepting deception and
delusion is inviting evil to come in with Satan's characteristics, to
steal, kill, and destroy.
Peter wrote about the mindset of
individuals who are deceived in the last days in 2 Peter 3:4;
“...knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days,
walking according to their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the
promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things
continue as they were from the beginning of creation.'”
It is a common mindset. After all, we
have so much in life to lean on for security. We have the military,
the police, emergency services, and the rule of law. We come home to
houses that have electricity, running water, air conditioning, and
with locked doors sleep in comfortable beds. We eat when we want to.
We have jobs, go shopping, enjoy hobbies and other activities,
listen to music, drive cars on highways and streets, and we go to
church. How could anything disturb all of this? How can anyone
actually believe that we are in the last days and that a volatile
period of great persecution and disasters is about to manifest?
The clear truth is that individuals who
do not have a viable prayer life are in danger of being deceived.
However. If they are not filled with the Holy Spirit, they are most
likely already under deception. But if they do not passionately love
truth, they are in all probability under a great delusion. I am
deeply saddened by the realization that most of them cannot receive a
warning. As one who is called to warn people, I cannot cease to do
so. They are walking headlong into the greatest trial of their weak
faith and have no clue. Although few will receive these warnings, it
does not make it any less a duty.
Life is not a game. It is a daily and
sometimes deadly struggle for the destiny of ones eternal soul.
