One person asked another one, “What do you think about all
the apathy and ignorance in Christianity and our nation?”
The other individual replied, “I don’t know and I don’t care.” Apathy and ignorance is a path paved with
false security. It truly is the ostrich
complex that has not only doomed individuals, but entire nations. If I say or write something humorous, refer
to a sports event, a popular song or movie, or the latest technology, I get
instant interested and lively responses.
Oh I know…no one wants to read or hear the doom and gloom. In a time of peace, that might be an
acceptable position. However, in a time
of impending peril it is inappropriate and even dangerous to be apathetic and
ignorant of the elements of destruction.
Imagine living on a beach and ignoring the reports of an
approaching hurricane of unprecedented strength. The worst possible conclusion is to mistaken
the calm before the storm as evidence for security and safety. We are witnessing our nation being overthrown
by increments that has accelerated to an alarming rate. Simultaneously, Christianity is being
degraded or perverted to the extent that it has lost its former power and
scriptural distinctiveness. The
combination of these two erosive forces compiles a devastating storm that has
the potential to destroy the last truly free society on earth. To be apathetic and ignorant of what is
occurring openly and almost unhindered is to be unprepared when the diabolical
storm arrives.
I understand the desire for stress-free living, but the days
are long gone when we can live a fanciful existence void of reality. One may indeed attempt to live like a fawn
frolicking in a clearing surrounded by a pack of wolves. But when the consequences of such apathy and
ignorance strike, it is brutal and final.
I also understand the need of some Christians to believe in
a great escape. But at the same time
these individuals cry out for a mighty revival.
Can a people in need of a mighty revival truly be spiritually qualified
to escape the impending doom? Excited
expectation of a secret rapture alone is not adequate preparation. Is it proper for the modern “prophecy”
teachers to stir excitement while failing to prepare people? If such a secret rapture occurred, I dare say
that so few professing Christians would depart from America
to be noticed. Perhaps the entire house
churches in China
would disappear. But apathetic,
willfully ignorant, lethargic, complacent, and unproductive professing
Christians cannot possibly be qualified for such an easy exit from
persecution.
The truth is that American Christianity is inundated with
high maintenance, low impact individuals that are trying to coast to a
fraudulent finish line. They are exited
about everything in the world that brings them pleasure, but have no taste for
the spiritual things of God. Unless God
mixes His word and His gifts with something of the world system, they will
ignore Him and His ministers.
It is past time to awaken.
Intentional spiritual blindness is a quick route to deception. The deadliest thing about deception is that
it is no one ever knows that he or she is deceived. God is merciful to send us warnings to shake
up out of deception or the cloud of false security. If one is ignoring the warnings, then what does
that say about that person’s spirituality?
I have been warning people for the past two decades about the very time
we are now living in. It is not to be
sensational, or to draw attention to myself, but to prevent people from falling
victim to the great deception and subsequent great apostasy that are prophesied
in God’s word. God’s love and His
unction in my soul compel me to continue warning people up unto the very last
minute.
People need to realize that the horrible last days events
that are prophesied in God’s word cannot possible occur unless a significant
number of individuals on the earth are deceived and under a delusion. Further, they must be deceived and deluded
for a period to allow these things to form and manifest. Each professing Christians should ask him or
herself whether or not the seeds of deception are sown in them. If one has no taste for the truth, is
avoiding any clear warnings about the state of affairs, and is blindly
indulging in life with no thought of the degradation that is occurring in
Christianity and secular society, then that person is in real danger. The only way out of danger is to wake up to
reality. Of course, there is still
physical danger. However, Christ said
that we should no fear the one who can harm the body, but to fear the One who
can destroy both body and soul in hell.
This is a temporal realm. Every
true Christian ought to be focused on the eternal realm. If one’s mind is as Colossians
3 says it ought to be, then we are okay. If not, then apathy and ignorance has reached
full bloom and is about to bear fruit.
Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV
If then you were raised with Christ,
seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand
of God. Set your mind on things above, not on
things on the earth. For you died, and your life
is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who
is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Please consider that last sentence carefully
and studiously.)
